An Akron woman is suing former professional wrestler Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, and his beer company after she was hit in the head with a sealed can of beer last August.

“It’s unconscionable to think that you’re going to go to a bar to see a celebrity and end up being pelted with it with a can of beer,” Attorney Eric Tayfel said.

Tayfel is representing Michelle Harlukowicz, an Akron woman who willingly attended a promotional event for Real American Beer at Thirsty Cowboys on August 19, 2024.

The lawsuit was filed on February 10, 2025, alleging negligence causing injury after a sealed beer can was thrown an estimated 50 feet, striking the woman on her forehead along her hairline.

“She had an open wound to her forehead,” Tayfel said. “It was pretty big. She ended up needing a number of stitches to her head, and she’s going to have some permanent scarring from that.”

The lawsuit states Hogan and other unnamed promoters were riling up the crowd to promote the beer, tossing free cans to people in the crowd.

Harlukowicz was standing near the back wall near the dance floor when the beer can hit her. Her lawyer said she never saw it coming nor had a chance to avoid it.

Photos of the injury show a can shaped wound on the victim’s forehead which required close to 10 stitches.

Medina Township Police responded to the incident but did not file charges because officers could not determine who threw the beer.

The lawsuit alleges it was either Hogan or one of the other promoters working that night who threw the sealed can of beer.

Thirsty Cowboys, and its owner Aaron Lind are also listed in the lawsuit. The plaintiff’s say the venue is also responsible for booking the promoters, and for security of its guests.

“How does a responsible company allow full cans of beer to be thrown into a crowd of its guests,” Tayfel said.

Harlukowicz is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering and emotional distress.

“First of all, we want some accountability,” Tayfel said. “He is still touring around hocking his beer. We certainly don’t want to have this happen to anyone else.”

Fox 8’s Tino Bovenzi reached out to both Real American Beer and Thirsty Cowboys but neither responded.

Who is throwing a beer can 50 feet?

Was it the dude that used to throw the beers to Austin?

Yeah depending on how the headline is phrased you can picture them just tossing beers to the crowd and it's like "what do you expect" but if all of these details are true, negligence is very much accurate

It’s negligent af.

Like toss them to people in the first 2 rows.

Don’t chuck them as hard and as far as you can.

Hogan's Defense: I had to throw the beers into the crowd! It's the only way I can get rid of it!
