I'm almost never actually laughing when I type "lol." I usually type it when I find something funny on the inside or when I'm being sarcastic (which also constitutes as laughing on the inside, only I'm laughing at something that somebody else said even though I'm not supposed to) but very rarely do I actually laugh out loud at forum posts. Only if I type LOL (note the capitalized letters) do I legitimately find something funny or amusing that I at least chuckle over it.
