But I own mine. You don't. And it's no hassle usually to find what I want.
Again, you can watch movies anytime you want so as long as you're subscribed to netflix and the movie is streaming you own it. Movies that aren't streaming you can rent at anytime for as long as your heart desires.
I see but it's an online retailer with some shady products. Regular retail stores like Best Buy or Target would charge a fortune for that.
But still, my main sticking point is that you don't physically own anything you pay for.
You don't physically own anything on a PC/laptop unless you burn it to a disc but that's not a retail copy.
But there is no hassle for full seasons. Those are usually the easiest to find. And yeah you need the hard drive, but up there. 2tb for under $100, that is once again a one time expenditure while you will pay $120 a year for every year you want access to netflix.
No hassle? For most sites you have to download a shit load of parts for seasons and then merge them unless you want to view it online but then of course you have the hassle of finding the episodes and there will be shows you want to watch that aren't there and you need to find elsewhere. In most cases anyways due to strict networks, it almost always happens. Is that a good deal? Fuck yes it is but again Netflix is very appealing because most people don't have access to huge hard drives and well actually most people probably don't know how much a TB is.
I'm sure it's very user friendly, which is appealing. My way is maybe not as user friendly but it is far more free.
Netflix is $10 for the standard unlimited streaming and one DVD out at a time with a huge database to stream and growing and all others available on DVD, don't be so God damn poor. User friendly is nice. Being convenient and organized is great.
Who says I watch anything on my laptop? My tower is hooked directly up to my tv. All I have to do to watch something is plug in my external and pick what I want to watch.
Well this whole debate is about how Netflix is appealing to everyone and sadly most people don't know how to hook it up or that you even can to be honest. On Netflix all you have to do it boot up the application on whatever you choose to watch on. A bit more convenient then your option.
But you're still paying for something you easily don't have to pay for. That's what I don't get. I understand the convenience factor and whatnot and (especially if you don't own a PC) but barring not owning a PC, even that's negligible when you add everything up in the end. Are we really so lazy that we can't be bothered to take 5 minutes to find something for free? And I can have more than one movie out at a time.
Almost everyone on Netflix uses streaming which has a huge database of movies and shows. This is unlimited. You can watch how many movies and shows you want a day, week, month, year. Are we really so lazy that we can't obtain the money to pay for things and not be a greedy fucking pirate? Okay half joking considering I pirate music but I don't pirate anything else and I'm an anti-games pirate. Support the developers who make the games you like! Especially for the PC considering how bad piracy which is why they get half assed support and many of the HD multi-platform console games aren't the PC period due to piracy but that's another debate. Netflix is almost every single electronic device now so it has a massive amount of convenience. Have a 360 but it got the RROD of death? Watch movies on your laptop. Plan on going to spend the weekend with your brother? Watch whatever you want through Netflix on his PS3. Going out on a long bus ride or car ride and you don't want to carry around your laptop? Go lighter with your IPod Touch and watch whatever you want right on Netflix! of course provides it's on streaming which in most cases it is and really the streaming database is huge so who really cares. It sucks that some movies aren't available on streaming but watch a different movie out of the millions on streaming.
Yeah but like I said the price argument is dumb. I pay around $1000 for my tower including that graphics card and never pay for a single game. Total expense around $1000. You bought a system. A second controller most likely if not more than one. You will buy games in quantities likely reaching over $1000 just by themselves, and just like me in a few years you'll need a new system. But the difference is, I'll pay my one time cost (maybe a new graphics card a little later on if a really hot game hits and I want the best to play it) and I'll play all the free games I want.
I already went over my opinion on this subject so I won't add too much besides the fact that PC gaming sucks(I prefer to play with a controller thank you and yes you can use a controller if you program it but that's strange you use controllers for consoles), you get shit for support, games aren't meant to be played on consoles/handhelds and using the internet is meant to be done through your PC/laptop(not on console/handheld devices) you don't have the features from consoles, you can't play the console and HD multi-platform exclusives.
I don't care about that, I'm not a graphics nerd. Truth be told, the biggest thing that puts PC over console for me is very simple. I like my mouse. I find it 1000x easier to play just about any game involving aiming of any kind with a mouse.
I guess this is just were we disagree. I find aiming/moving/anything involving a video game to be much easier with a controller and again like I mentioned before using the internet should be done on a computer and playing games on a console. Most PC gamers are graphics nerds which is funny considering GOWIII which runs in 720p looks better then any PC game running at max settings.
Only if you're a graphics nerd and demand that you run it at the highest settings.
I am not a graphics nerd. I still play PS1 games.
That depends on how you want to look at things. As a PC I have access to the NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, PSX, and Dreamcast libraries and more I'm sure, plus a huge catalogue of PC games past and present.
If you have a Wii you have access to many of the Nintento platform games, if you have a PS2, PSP or PS3 you have access to every PS1 game, Genesis games are on the virtual console for the Wii, dreamcast games becoming available on Live/PSN, the non DSI handhelds play all GBA games. Many people have access to all of these things, some have access to all. I will admit the emulators are pretty sweet but if you have any of these console/handhelds you have access to it's respective backwards compatible games.
Because some of us hook ours directly up to our televisions so we can have 52" monitors.
Well computers that have Blu-Ray are usually pretty expensive and having say a PS3 is much more convenient and cost efficient but I see your point.
Minimization. Everything media related I need is all in one place with very simple access. Nor is it annoying. It took one cable and all I have to do to get to my PC is hit the input button twice on my remote.
Well if you have Netflix you have everything on your PS3 as well and everything on the 360 minus Blu-Ray obviously. Extremely easy access all I have to do is boot up Netflix or download and watch whatever off PSN or watch whatever on DVD/Blu-Ray.
This means nothing to me at all. The only game I care about in 2011 is Diablo 3. Everything else can suck a dick.
Uncharted 3/Killzone 3/Resistance 3/Infamous 2/Gears of War 3>Diablo 3 Of course this is all opinion but my point was the PS3 does depending on your opinion and will no matter what your view is, have the best quality of games after 2011.
