Everything ends at some point. WWE, and wrestling, will in all likelihood end at some point too. The question is, when?
With the rise of MMA, giving fans real wrestling type competition that is rising in popularity, as well as the slump wrestling is in in terms of overall interest right now, do you think wrestling will still be around for your entire lifetime?
It's really hard to tell, but how long do you see the wrestling business being around?
I think there's not much more evolving it can do, and wrestling will remain kinda the same for the rest of it's existence. The question then is how long will that existence be, and to me, with the rise of all kinds of MMA promotions that offer the same violence, but for real, and the fact that it's well known that wrestling isn't real, I can see wrestling lasting 80 years more or so. Not much more. I think it'll go past my lifetime. In 80 years, I'll be 96, and hopefully dead by then (who wants to be alive at 96?), so I DO think it'll still be around when I'm gone, but not much longer.
Thoughts?

It'll probably go in and out of style like bellbottoms, and platform shoes. No seriously...it's hard to say exactly. I think it'll at least be around as long as the McMahon family tree retains interest in it. Vince's kids are, but who knows how his grandbabies will feel? One thing's for sure a McMahon knows how to make money from just about anything they want to market. Perhaps his grandkids will one day have a stake in MMA if they think pro wrestling is not cool.

I believe that wrestling will be around forever. Just different generations will start coming through. Wrestling's already been around for centuries now, and it'll surely continue one way or another.

I remember watching some show on Ancient Greece where wrestling was a real popular Olympic thing. They said those guys fought to the death though. One vase depicted an art piece of one wrestler gouging out the other's entrails. Ewww...I hope our wrestling never comes to that.

Forever. As long as sports are popular and there is still Boxing, Soccer and other sports there will still be wrestling.

^Why? Wrestling is completely different from soccer and boxing. And any other sport. Considering it's not a sport.
BTW, who says boxing, soccer, hockey, basketball, etc, wil be around forever? I think we forget how long forever is. I'm sure in the 1300's, people thought the shit that existed then would last forever, too.

Why can't we still believe it will last forever? It'll certainly go well beyond our lifetime and at least for many more generations.

You can believe whatever you like, lol. I'm just creating discussion. I just don't see it lasting much longer than our lifetimes, as interests change, but that's just me.

But then more people are born in the generations coming and you can't say all of them are not going to have an interest in wrestling.

So you think everything that exists now will be around until the end of time?

That's such a broad question. Species come, and go all the time. Dinosaurs have been dead for 65-70 million years, where do you think humans will be in 50 million more? The Universe is estimated to be at least 15 billion years old(assuming the Big Bang theory is correct), the Earth is supposedly 4.5 billion years old. Evidence also suggest that life might've existed on MARS at one time. Considering that several billions of years is an incomprehensible measure of time it could've been possible. I wonder if Martians were as stupid, and destructive as we humans are? Still nothing lasts forever persay( us humans certainly are not. We're not even close to being the oldest lifeforms, and probably won't be the last.), but I think pro wrestling has at least another 20yrs on it.

That's kinda the poitn I was trying to make. Some people are saying it'll be around forever. That's fine if that's what they're predicting/thinking. But I just don't think they realise how long forever actually means. I think it's got 80-90 years left.

It might not be as popular as certain times, but it will still be around. As long as two people are wrestling, it still exists.

I have been pondering this for a while now-who will the next revolutionary be? I mean the 70s was about straight wrestling then WWE made it about entertainment in the 80s. Then it was the kiddie friendly era in the 90s when ECW came in and basically created the attitude era. Now it's almost like we've gone backwards with it being kid friendly just with some darker characters. What's next?

To be honest what football (soccere) is to Britain, wrestling is to America. Wrestling has survived through everything before so realy why shouldn't it go 0n forever? Long as there is people like us on the internet trying to get out friends into it, it will go forever.
