If you love horror movies, you’ve no doubt had a debate with your friends about which one of you is best equipped to survive a run-in with a mass murderer or supernatural slasher. It’s right up there with “who would you want with you during the zombie apocalypse?†on the list of horror-geek conversations.

While this topic always inspires great debates (because no one wants to admit they’re likely to be the first person who’d die if Jason Voorhees interrupted your camping trip), it’s always been completely hypothetical – until now.

Thrill seekers looking to test their mettle and see if they can survive a night of pure, unrelenting terror will want to book tickets to Ten Thirty One Productions’ Great Horror Campout – an event taking place over 12 hours on June 7 and 8. For $149, campers will be subjected to a scavenger hunt/survival experience cooked up by the madmen (and women…) behind the annual Los Angeles Haunted Hayride.

So, what does your $149 get you? It gives you the ability to partake in a night-long scavenger hunt where you’ll be tasked with finding items while dodging the deadly things lurking around you in the 32-acre Los Angeles State Historic Park. Like all the modern hard-core scare events, this one comes with a disclaimer up front:

“First Rule: We can change the rules. When we want, for any reason we want and without any notice. You’ll need to be listening for the camp announcements for the rule changes if you have any hope of escaping elimination. The interactive “Hell Hunt†experience will give campers whom wish for a more extreme experience a run for their money as they come face to face (and closer) with their worst nightmares in order to retrieve the items for which they are hunting. The Hell Hunt will be an extremely high-octane hunt for items that will send campers bathing in the blood of a 'Pope Lick,' partaking in a sacrificial voodoo ritual, digging through road kill amongst 'Beasts of Bray' and more. Campers will have to use creative thinking and problem solving to find the most coveted items. Those 'Hell Hunters' who complete the task will go home with a Golden Ticket to LA’s Most Popular Halloween Attraction, Los Angeles Haunted Hayride. The bearer of a Golden Ticket allows unlimited rides at LA Haunted Hayride 2013.â€

The promo goes on to warn guests just what they can expect:

"During Great Horror Campout you may be forcibly handled, moved, bound, hooded, chained and subjected to simulated torture by our actors. You may witness strong verbal content, which may be considered offensive in nature. This content is part of the experience and is presented for entertainment purposes only."

If that’s a bit too intense, there are options to simply hang out in the “safe zone†watching horror films all night or sleep in your tent – although the hosts are going to try to scare you there, too.

This sounds fucking amazing. I wished I could do this but doubt I would be able to.

I would love to try this! Seems very similar to The Zombie Race, which is a marathon where you try not to get captured by the zombies. Epic!

I've heard about the zombie thing too and I definitely want to try that! This sounds just as epic though!
