So far, Square Enix has said that a Final Fantasy VII remake would be "unrealistic," "tough to do in HD" and "not happening." But hold out hope, die-hards, because during an interview at FFXIII's launch party, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada finally admitted that the company is "going to explore the possibility" of revisiting the classic RPG. He didn't completely reverse the long-held position, as he says Square Enix has to decide "whether or not we're going to do it, if we're going to do it, and the platform," but he did finally admit that there have been a lot of fan requests to see the game in a new form, so he's giving it some solid thought.

Of course, the huge success of the game's re-release on PSN probably didn't hurt either. If Square's convinced a remake will sell (and people will play through Gaia yet again, possibly even on yet another platform), we'll probably see it somewhere sooner or later.

It's just a matter of time before it's announced. No way will they pass up that money. When it is remade I might finally play this. It's one of the most hyped up games of all time yet I haven't played it.

You should play it coz it puts most games today to shame. I really hope they don't remake it. It's a masterpiece and should not be touched.

Why the hell would it be "too tough for HD"? That makes no fuckin sense. As long as they keep the game EXACTLY how it how before and don't fuck with anything I'm all for it. If they maybe want to tweek side quests or add some bonus' go for it I suppose.

They claim the development cycle would take 10 years lol. Even though the game itself is complete it just needs to be upgraded to HD which they can do with the Final Fantasy XIII engine. I'm sure it would take a while to make it next gen but 10 years is bullshit.

So I've heard from a few people but 23,299 people say it averages out to be 9.6/10. It also sold like over 10 million copies. But idk I haven't played it. Eventually I will have to try it with the amount of hype it has.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt anyway. This is coming from someone who hasn't enjoyed an FF game since Six on the SNES.

Looking back on it, FFVII was pretty good. Thats coming from somebody who used to hate it. I can see how a remake would take forever.

FFVII had all that shit in it, whereas FFXIII was linear as shit, XIII also took like 5/6 years to make. Doing VII would take forever because they would have to remaster everything from scratch

7-9 were the glory years for the series, they started slipping with 10, thought it was decent.

lol. They have multiple next gen engines ready to use. That saves a hell of a lot of time.

Just because they have the engine doesn't mean they can just do it just like that.

I refuse to believe it would take them any longer than 2 years to slap this together.

Also FFVII's story isn't even done yet but only like 29 people pay attention to that.

See the secret ending to Dirge of Cerberus. The most recent game in the timeline

Advent Children was a rip off of a continuation... what a horrible excuse for a sequel.
