Chrono Trigger OWNS, though I prefer Chrono Cross. I'm still waiting for a damn sequel; hopefully if the re-release does well, we can see one in the near future.

Every other Final Fantasy except for VII and above has already had remakes.
VII was Square's cash cow. Final Fantasy VII is overrated by many fans but god damnit it was a awesome game and it deserves the hype.

There's no love for FFVIII nor IX. X already had a sequel, and XI, fuck the online FF. FFXII even had a damn sequel. Where's FFVIII's and FFIX's? They're highly underrated because they followed VII's release; X was unaffected bcause it came during the PS2 era. We've had far too many FFVII games; Dirge of Cerberus was mediocre and the only thing saving Crisis Core was the nostalgia factor. The film, Advent Children, was horrible, IMO. The anime series was okay, though. Now a remake? I think enough's enough. No wonder there's no Chrono sequel, proper Mana sequels, or Vagrant Story sequel. They're too busy focusing on remaking DQ and FF games.

The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII has a 20 year life span and Nomura said the FFVII craze will end in 2017.
If you think this is something The Compilation of the upcoming Final Fantasty XIII is slated to last longer the Final Fantasy VII's.
There was a reason the others didn't get much praise like VII. 8 and 9 were just fill in gaps. The way both stories ended left no need for a sequel/prequel. I'm pretty sure in a long time from now they'll both probably get remade like the others.

^ Indeed; Crisis Core's nostalgic factor worked wonders. The OVA was, as you said, excellent. Everything else, was not needed. My favorite FF is IX; perhaps I'm just bitter it receives NO love at all, from what I can see. VII is always given the credit, and yes, I loved the story, the characters, and so forth; for Square Enix to diminish the brand is actually making me like it less and less, though, unfortunately. Regarding VIII, I liked it as well, so I want to see something come of it and IX. I don't mind the Dragon Quest love, seeing as I've only played IV (for DS) and VIII for the PS2. I want to experience more of it.
