Ahhhhh Hitman: Absolution.

I've been sold a few lemons recently with these new games, and at least I know Hitman and GTA will not disappoint. Do we have any Hitman fans here, or shall I start converting the unwashed masses?

Hitman: Blood Money still stands up as a great game and it came out in 2006. There are so many ways to attack any one level. I can't stand mindless first person shooters. I leave the Call of Duty and all that war horseshit for the plebians. I want a game that challenges me, and that's definitely Hitman.

The AI in this new one is so advanced and organic, that it's impossible for even the developer to fully predict how it will act in certain situations.

If you know nothing about it, I'd highly recommend watching this video.

That's all I have for now. Can't wait to buy this game. HITMAN RULES!! :henry2:

Bought the game the day it came out but haven't actually gotten around to playing yet. I'm a huge fan of stealth games and the hitman property in general. The only thing is I can never win undetected because I just walk on by and there is an alert level in yellow. I think Splinter Cell is a bit easier but that's not to say Hitman isn't good. I love Hitman and I look forward to playing this but I let my brother take it with him on a vacation but ill be playing it when he gives me it back next week. Hitman isn't a sandbox game and it doesn't really need the gimmick to be a great game. It's pure classic straight forward storytelling in a sense. I like the fact that if you get frustrated you can just start going on a mass killing spree which I do quite a lot for the hell of it.

I blew off a lot of steam by going on murder sprees in Blood Money. I'd try hilariously over the top tactics designed to fail, just to see how the AI acts. Before a security check, just whip out a gun and start blasting.

At the White House, I'd plant an explosive on someone and let them walk past security. When they get in the foyer I'd blow them and several secret service guards up. Then in storms Agent 47 with a souped up assault rifle to mow down anything that moves.

Tried the game out wasn't impressed by it either not much for pure stealth and level games it has to be free roaming for me.

I am not sure if that's a sentence, but I think I get the gist.

I plan on getting it eventually. The way my friend described it, it's a lot like Blood Money, only with smarter AI.

Blood Money still stands as one of my favorite games of all time. Hopefully I have the same level of praise for Absolution.

Well dude if you are on Xbox please hit me up gets when you get it. We can trade Contracts.

The best way I've heard Absolution described is "the grandson of Blood Money", as it is so much more advanced in the AI & your abilities to use the environment in your missions.

I tried it but I got like 10 minutes into the game and kept dying. It looks like a fun experience to play through it if you can.

Reading your opinions I think I will "buy" this for Christmas. I cannot make my decision between AC3, GTA V and Absolution tho.

Highly considering getting this game soon out of my XMAS money but I dunno. It looks like I'd enjoy the game with some sweet gameplay, plus not all games are like this so yeah it'd be a sweet change playing this for a while. And from what I've seen/read, it also sounds like it had a fair bit of replay value. Idk. It's getting somewhat mixed reviews. Is it worth the full RRP atm?

I haven't played the Hitman series since like the second game but I watched about half an hour of that video posted by Bret and I honestly don't think it looks that special at all. I was actually tempted to torrent it before I saw that video, not so sure anymore.

Stealth games aren't for everyone. If you don't have patience or long attention spans, don't bother.

Reading your opinions I think I will "buy" this for Christmas. I cannot make my decision between AC3, GTA V and Absolution tho.

I'm a huge AC mark, but take it from me, ACIII is pretty forgettable. You still have another 4 months until GTA.

I'm fine with stealth games, I mark like a bitch for Splinter Cell. I dunno what it is, but I just looked at that video and I didn't really get blown away by it.

It is an average game. Has it's moments of greatness and also moments of annoyance. It's fun at times, frustrating at others.

Absolution isn't a bad game (inferior to Blood Money imo but thankfully more accessable while still challenging for new players) but Square Enix are beginning to show me just how skilled they are at butchering their Eidos characters. They did it to Kane & Lynch, now they've done it to 47. The assassination missions are broken up in favor of linear stealth sections and glossy Square Enix-esque cutscenes with lots of Saturday morning cartoon villians. The story basically makes the mistake of making the game about the hitman and not the hitman's work, pulling the "ammoral, contracted killer struggling with his moral compass" schtick.

Absolution may be accessable to newcomers and all, but I think they've simultaneously killed the simple charm the franchise always had.

Incidentally, there's about 3 Kane & Lynch cameos and a Lara Croft easter egg. I wonder if Square Enix are trying to build some kind of cross-continuity here or whatever you call it.

I never understood what was so great about Hitman. The controls always felt "jerky" and choppy to me.. Maybe I just played one of the bad games.
