He received an amazing reaction in the Royal Rumble match this past Sunday.

The guy can still pull off his gimmick.... to perfection. :shifty:

I know he can't wrestle and has no in-ring skills but should he still be associated with the WWE for some gimmick off-screen role?
thoughts?

Well to be fair I think he should stay on the roster and work backstage rolls like Simmons did, help out the new guys and put the annoying ones in place and teach them to show some respect.

But in the ring, should be given to younger guys unless it's a once in a month squash match to put a young guy over then I don't mind. But lol I kinda feel sorry for the guy, having seen him get beat and embarresed so many times.

He doesn't have to do much to "pull off" the gimmick.
He doesn't do anything to ge tthe reaction, it's just the mere fact that he's a "legend" that gets him pops.
I'd much prefer any other legend for an off-screen role than him.

Never liked him but respect his passion for the business. I don't like him being an active part of the roster television wise but a backstage role for life would be fine I guess. Thought Sarge had that but I guess not.

I also thought that the backstage guy for life on Raw was going to be Holly, while Taker is the backstage guy for life on Smackdown. Hence why he never left Smackdown since it's opening in 99'.

Eh, leave the guy be. He's a legend and I'm sure does a great job of teaching younger guys a thing or two.
It's not like they're pushing him or wasting TV time.
Plus, he gave Jericho some amazing heel heat when he refused to wrestle "a washed up hack" lol.

Eh, he did get a pretty good reaction, but it doesn't take much to get the American crowds when someones waving their flag and shouting USA & shit. If he did that anywhere else, it'd fall flat on it's face.

He got a pretty damn good reaction at the Rumble, and everyone sold well for him, which was nice, but Hacksaw should really hang up the boots, and just keep backstage, maybe making the occasional appearance. Just give him a match on RAW against Jericho or someone, and that's last match, make it before WM as well.

I've always been a Hacksay fan. He should hang 'em up though, I am never usually one to talk about 'tainted legacy' but seriously.

Hacksaw made a name for himself in Mid South back in the early 80's. And in WCW defeated Austin at the 94 Fall Brawl. If you check out his history he has made a name for himself in every promotion. More power to him he's definitely a company man or he wouldn't be still around.

The word "Legacy" shouldn't be associated with Hacksaw Jim Dugan. The guy lost all my respect when he took a pay cut at WCW AND went with the storyline of joining Team Canada. LMFAO! What a clown! The only reason Vince keeps the guy around is because he stuck in and taught Eugene how to be a blueberry... but even Eugene couldn't keep in character when he needed to.

I hated that they gave him Shad's spot in the Royal Rumble though. But I guess they kinda feel for the guy with the fact that he overcame throat cancer a few years back. I do respect that he's still in the ring after that.

True, but he was never the uppercard player that people sometimes hold him in the same regard as. Ron Simmons was, Arn Anderson was, heck, most of the backstage agents in the 'E were.
