During a recent appearance on Sportsnet's UFC Central with Showdown Joe Ferraro, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre gave yet another status update on his recovery from a torn ACL."I'm at the last stage (of recovery). I'll be back pretty soon. In July I'll be training again," said the champ, before adding, "I think November is a realistic time for me to come back and fight."

Showdown Joe then asked GSP if he could be part of the blockbuster fight that the UFC teased recently for a big show in January and if Nick Diaz could be in the works as his opponent -- after all, UFC president Dana White indicated that the fight was dependent upon an undefined sequence of events and would only happen "if things go the way that they could."

"Yeah, it could happen," St-Pierre replied. "November, December, January -- yeah, maybe, why not? Depends on how everything plays out. For now, it's out of my hands. I don't even think about fighting right now, I think about finalizing my knee rehabilitation. Once it will be back, I will know who I'm fighting, because I don't know one hundred percent right now."

Diaz's future in MMA is currently unknown, as he is waging war with the Nevada State Athletic Commission over his marijuana suspension during what he announced to be his retirement from MMA.

It has also been rumored that a Jon Jones-Anderson Silva superfight could be what White was referencing.

Fully expecting GSP to trounce Condit when they do fight, and hopefully Diaz-GSP in January will be possible after that. Seems like a short period of time between fights but i think GSP should be able to handle it and obviously Diaz has been out of action since February so he should be set for a fight of this magnitude whenever it happens.

Pretty pathetic if Diaz gets the next shot straight away.

He lost to Condit, so makes no sense that he should just walk into an opportunity like that when Condit had to actually earn it. Let him fight Ellenberger or Kampmann for the shot.

Supposedly the winner of Ellenberger/Kampmann was going to get the winner of GSP/Condit but that's not really any kind of super fight for a stadium. I honestly think this card will have GSP and Jon Jones on it, not necessarily fighting each other but they will both be on it.

I feel like UFC wouldn't put two fights people would buy PPVs for on the same card. Jones/Silva would be an epic fight but Silva's got an enormous skill advantage.

I would take Jones over Silva any day honestly. But i don't see that fight happening, ever. Although this show is such a long time from now, and at anytime things could change and these two could end up fighting, i just don't see it happening.

I fully expect GSP to injure himself again when he starts training, he has been injured for over a year now and if he returns on schedule it will be more than 18 months between fights. I just have this feeling that he is going to get injured again when he starts intensive training again. Hopefully he is back at the end of this year so that we can finally unify the titles and see if anyone can beat GSP.
