Yeah he had a lot of his best matches but he was wrestling the right guys at the right time(while no attempting to bury most of them like he did in his reign of doom).

Mick Foley's retirement timing is so interesting to me. He looked completely done as an elite worker (by his own admission too in his 2nd book) throughout 1999, getting by on hardcore spots and incredible character work. He nearly retires with little fanfare in a team with Al Snow, only Stone Cold has to get neck surgery and Vince asks him to stick around a little longer. Mick then comes up with an idea to end his career in a glorious way with Triple H and after some prodding convinces Vince to go with it. Vince tells Mick to get his ass in shape, and in about 6 weeks time he goes from lovable goofball teaming with Rock and Al Snow to hardcore icon Cactus Jack and puts on two of the best matches of his entire career. Yes, his body is hurting, but the man was only 34 years old (crazy young by today's standards) and putting on 5 star brawls with Triple H when he called it a career. I can't help but wonder what things would have been like had he stuck around. Does he get that vicious heel turn and feud with the Rock that he was looking for and make the Rock looks like a bigger star than he already is? Does he have more big time matches with the likes of Angle, Jericho, and Benoit? Would ABA Undertaker vs. Cactus Jack add a new dimension to the Undertaker-Mankind wars of old? Maybe he's the one who runs over Stone Cold instead of Rikishi? Its just bonkers to me, again in retrospect, that Mick Foley called it a career right when really, he might have just been looking at another peak...which in itself was crazy looking at who he was just six weeks prior.

The street fight fell off my list but its definitely a great match and I was fully expecting it to be the overall #1. Maybe overexposure has something to do with it because I've seen it about as any match ever but ultimately there were 25+ matches I'd rather see on my own list. No disappointments though and like I said I completely expected it.
