Man I loved Goldberg as a kid. He and Sting were definitely my favorites from WCW.

And to this day, this is still one of my favorite matches ever. Short, to the point, and just awesome.

Me at 13 : Goldberg was incredible. He looked like a beast. The build up with his long intro being escorted from backstage made it a real spectacle. He was powerful and fast and pretty much unstoppable. WCW GOAT.

Me now : Goldberg is a talentless hack. He's dangerous in the ring. He's a liability. He can't carry a match to save his life. He was a two trick pony. And he built a career on that. Do I still get chills watching classic Goldberg matches? Sure. Would I pick to watch a Goldberg match over literally any match on Dark? Nope. Because every single person on Dark wants to be a wrestler. Goldberg was there to get paid.

I won't go as far as saying f*** Goldberg, since he did a lot of good outside of the ring. But that's the only reason why.

Goldberg and DDP were my favorites in WCW.

And Heenan on commentary as Goldberg goes for the Jackhammer: “When he lifts him up, this place is gonna explode”

Goldberg's Japan run is proof he wasn't a one trick pony, just a guy who knew what made him money in the Wars and it wasn't him being a technical bout machine or a hardcore bleeder. He knew you're supposed to work smart, not hard, and that's why he is relevant in 2023. Goldberg is cool for the 5 minutes of work he puts in each squash and that's all he ever needed to be.

Every character has a role to play. He played his for 4 decades now. I'll give the monster face some love.
