After years of chatter, failed visa issues and bogus rumors, Brazilian light heavyweight standout, Glover Teixeira has finally signed a contract to fight for the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion: the UFC.

Though still a fairly unknown product in America, Teixeira has been competing professionally since 2002. He’s put together quite the résumé in the last decade, amassing an overall record of 17-2; he’s finished 15 foes within the distance. Amongst those who have been dealt defeat by Glover are Ricco Rodriguez, Marcio Cruz, Marvin Eastman and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou; all of which he stopped courtesy of strikes inside the first frame, sans Cruz, who survived into round two.

Teixeira currently rides a 15 fight win streak, having not come up short in competition since 2005 when he dropped a decision to Ed “Short Fuse†Herman under the SportFight banner. The only other man to defeat him is Eric Schwartz, who stopped him with punches and elbows in his first professional fight.

No word has been issued on who may serve as the Brazilian’s first opponent inside the octagon, but a summer debut looks to be likely. We’ll keep you updated as more info rolls in!
