LIVE! From Young Arena
Waterloo, Iowa
Attendance: 2,139
Welcome everyone to another exciting edition of GWC Firefight! Christopher Cunningham and Johnny Tsunami welcome the audience to this jam-packed episode; they immediately go into hype mode, as Adam Scherr faces off against Zicky Dice, Maki Itoh goes one on one with Jessie McKay, and NWA World Champion Nick Aldis makes his debut on the program. They also hype up GWC Beach Brawl coming up next Sunday, featuring a new title gauntlet match: The Pure Wrestling Championship Gauntlet.
Before the group can continue a robed figure comes out to Death's "Spiritual Healing", he walks down to the ring and climbs up... slowly taking off the robe and revealing himself.
It's him! Chris Cunningham expresses his disgust over the attack on Bryan Daniels at the end of last week. This man has a microphone in hand and is laughing maniacally before he speaks, "Allow me to introduce myself! I... I am KNOX HAWTHORNE, and I... am your savior!" He talks about why he did what he did to Bryan last week, justifying his actions as a man who wanted to save Daniels from his delusions of grandeur. Those delusions that make him think that he has something to prove... "Oh my, Bryan, you've nothing left to prove, so why continue to fight? This is a war against the inevitable that you have waged upon yourself, and soon I will have to help put you back where you belong, my friend! You'll see soon enough; you'll all see!"

After the commercial break we get a backstage interview with the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis and his valet Kamille. Duke Butters talks to him and asks about his appearance here on GWC Firefight. Aldis declares that as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, he goes where he wants. Global Wrestling Championship is just another promotion to show off the NWA's true dominance.

Mike Bennett vs. Nick Aldis w/ Kamille
Nick Aldis faces off against Mike Bennett, who's been on something of a lost journey ever since his wife Maria went on maternity leave. Aldis and Kamille flaunt the NWA World Heavyweight Championship just before the match. Christopher Cunningham talks about Aldis' accomplishments as NWA Champion. In a fairly decent match, Aldis defeats Bennett with a Photo Finish in 7:42.

Backstage we get Brandon Kendrick interviewing IconIc, who won against the Midnight Idols last week. They're disgusted that Jessie McKay has to wrestle Maki Itoh tonight. The two of them declare that there's not a chance that Itoh will get one over on McKay and that once again, the two of them will be... IconIc.

After the commercial break, Brandon Blaze is backstage to interview The Wild Ones. The Wild Ones tell Blaze that they're very disappointed at the outcome of their match with the Thespian Alliance last week; they had victory in the palm of their hand and the time limit robbed them. They are now lobbying for a rematch against them and they don't care when, but they want it.

The Foundation vs. The Shieks
Our next match is a tag team affair between The Foundation, consisting of Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham, going up against the Shieks, Ariya and Shawn Daivari. The Foundation defeats The Shieks with relative ease in 4:41 with Jay Lethal's Lethal Injection.

Maki Itoh w/ Jeff Valley Driver vs. Jessie McKay w/ Cassie Lee
Our third matchup of the evening sees Maki Itoh facing off against Jessie McKay. Surprisingly, the two have a decent match as they battle one another evenly. Cassie Lee on the outside tries to cheat as much as she can to help her partner, but to no avail; Maki Itoh looks like she's done for, but a desperation pinfall attempt shocks everyone by actually getting the 1-2-3!!! MAKI ITOH UPSET JESSIE MCKAY!

Following the match, IconIc attack Maki Itoh two-on-one, but out comes the cavalry of Mayu Iwatani and IconIc is driven off as Jeff Valley Driver raises Itoh and Iwatani's hands. The Midnight Idols stand tall in this edition of Firefight!

Backstage we see Brandon Kendrick chatting with Enzo. Enzo has a lot to say, declaring that the realest guy in the room is all-business and all about proving he's the baddest man in that ring. It doesn't matter who he's put up against, he will put them down one by one and make his way to the top of the heap. Bada-boom, realest guy in the room.

After the commercial break we get a promo from Tessa Blanchard, interviewed by JoJo Offerman. Tessa says that last week was just a little taste of what the best women's wrestler in the world today offers. Not only did she dominate, she won without even breaking a sweat. Anybody that is put in front of her will have no different a result.

The War Kings vs. The Wild Ones
Our semi-final match of the evening is The War Kings vs. The Wild Ones. It is a better bout for the Wild Ones as they control the match throughout and eventually win via pinfall at 8:23 after hitting a Flying Legdrop. Christopher Cunningham talks up the team and hopes they and the Thespian Alliance get a rematch one of these days.
Rating: 45 |
Backstage we have The Thespian Alliance, who watched the match previously. JoJo Offerman asks them about their thoughts on a rematch; Aaron Stevens declares that there will never be a rematch and that the Wild Ones were damn lucky to even get a match against them in the first place. Marquee chimes in, saying that the Thespian Alliance has better things to do than wrestle some plebians; they have movies to act in, other stars to meet, and autographs to sign. They leave JoJo quickly before she can ask another question.

After the commercial break, we have Brandon Blaze chatting with Ruby Ramone, one of GWC's bigger signings. Ramone talks about hearing what Tessa Blanchard had to say and finding it funny. Tessa's never been anywhere where the best was; Ruby was with the best and battled the best. She declares that Tessa Blanchard isn't the best and never will be.

Adam Scherr vs. Zicky Dice
Our main event of the evening sees Adam Scherr facing off against Zicky Dice in their first official match on Firefight. Scherr dominates the match for the most part while Zicky tries (and fails) to cheat to mount any comeback he can. Scherr eventually finishes it with a Big Splash in 7:52. Christopher Cunningham calls Scherr an "awesome force" in GWC.

Before the show goes off the air, we see a serious-looking Bryan Daniels backstage by himself with a microphone. He tells himself that he should have known that a man like Knox Hawthorne would follow him to Global Wrestling Championship. His past will always follow him and try to drag him down, but not this time. He stares into the camera and declares that he wants a match with Knox Hawthorne next week on Firefight, so the two of them can finally settle their differences once and for all.
