I have decided to compile this small list of NXT's newest Superstars, in case anybody is interested in watching the show but is unsure because there are too many new faces. 2.0 has its ups and downs, but overall I really enjoy the new/old approach, and I hope my list helps someone. With that in mind, lets begin !
Xyon Quinn : known as Daniel Vidot in a previous life, Quinn is a 6'3 handsome, tattooed, Australi-Samoan force of nature. After playing professional rugby for almost 10 years, he made his move to pro wrestling. Following a couple miscellaneous TV appearances (including a SmackDown loss to my boy Sheamo), Quinn debuted under his new gimmick in NXT 2.0. His character is essentially Waylon Mercy without any fakeness or "hidden" psychotic tendencies ; The Samoan Ghost is polite and respectful, especially to women, but once he gets into that ring, he is all business.
Duke Hudson : the cockiest star in 2.0., Duke really loves himself. Following years of touring the world alongside his TMDK stable, Duke got scooped up by WWE in 2019 to nobody's surprise. Speaking of surprises, Duke and his partner Shane Thorne (Flapjack, I mean Slapjack from RETRIBUTION) got called up to the main roster with MVP in the initial stages of Covid Era, however the pairing didn't last. Duke resurfaced earlier this year, as a participant in the Breakout Tournament. With his movie star good looks, gambling skills lol and arrogant attitude, Duke is one of the brand's most highly touted stars.
Boa : a Chinese physical specimen, Big Boa has been signed to NXT longer than one might expect, since 2017. He'd been used as a jobber for the majority of his career, making sporadic appearances in order to make someone look good. However, in November of 2020, Boa and Xia Li ( congrats on the call-up girl ) underwent a massive mental transformation through a series of grueling vignettes, showing the two training rigorously while a mysterious woman watched. Fast forward a few months, and the woman reveals herself to be Mei Ying, an ancient goshdarn dragon girl ! Boa served as a manager/observer through the gimmick's initial stages but lately has began competing himself again. Stoic, obedient and focused, Boa follows Mei Ying blindly, but not too blindly we hope. That mist is suspicious...
Odyssey Jones : everybody loves a good time, therefore everybody loves Odyssey Jones ! An absolute monster of a man, standing at 6'5 and weighing over 400 pounds, Odyssey is not someone you'd want to meet in a dark alley.. except for the fact he is the nicest wrestler in 2.0. ! Odyssey came close to winning the 2021 Breakout Tournament, but lost in the finals to Carmelo Hayes. Drawing inspiration from Mark Henry and even the legendary JYD, Odyssey's odyssey to the top is imminent.
Von Wagner : hyped as one of 2.0's pet projects, VW's NXT escapades have been.. interesting thus far. Debuting in a multi-man match to crown the new NXT Champion, Wagner did not stand out in any way nor did he do anything in the ring that would warrant his mega push. His character is still being fleshed out, although 2.0 is seemingly building him as a nice weirdo of sorts lol. Currently, he is involved in a strange bedfellows team storyline with Kyle O'Reilly, where VW is attempting to win over Kyle's respect.
Saurav : the Indian behemoth Saurav is a towering man who you may or may not already know. A former TV and movie star in India, Saurav made his way over to pro wrestling a decade ago, competing in one of the greatest promotions in the history of our sport, Ring Ka King ! After leaving the business and coming back to entertainment, Saurav joined WWE in 2018, being paired with Rinku and then Malcolm Bivens as Indus Sher, an Indian version of Road Warriors basically. Rinku has since moved up to Raw, while Saurav is still in NXT, after being in some hot water with the officials for leaking show spoilers out accidentally.
Tony D'Angelo : GABAGOOL ! WWE's newest sensation, Big Tony has won over the audience after merely one match and several vignettes precceeding the match. As a Grade A athlete in amateur wrestling, D'Angelo is portraying a stereotypical mobster inside the squared circle. From his tattoos, to his outfits, mannerisms and even the way he talks, another well-known Tony is surely looking down on D'Angelo and smiling proudly. With a tough-guy look, legitimate credentials and buckets of charisma, Tony D is a must-see prospect in 2.0.
Carmelo Hayes : a product, and prodigy, of Chaotic Wrestling ( a school that groomed former WWE Champ Kofi Kingston ), Carmelo's been making waves in NXT since he showed up. Following an impressive run on the indies as Christian Casanova and then a great NXT debut bout against Adam Cole ( BAYBAY ), Hayes went on to win NXT's Breakout Tournament, guaranteeing him a title opportunity in the future. The sneaky Hayes capitalized on Isaiah Swerve Scott's anger and beef with Santos Escobar, and cashed in on the injured champion. Minutes later, and Hayes is the new North Americano Champion ! Cocky, stylish, athletic, Hayes has already been compared to Shawn Michaels...and Val Venis apparently because Carmelo Hayes really does sound like a name some B-level pornstar would use lol. With Trick Williams by his side, Hayes's run as the champion is just getting started.
Creed Brothers : Julius and Brutus Creed are rookies in the business, but looking at the current trajectory of their careers, their destiny is greatness. A pair of absolute studs in amateur wrestling, the Ohio boys made their debuts as Diamond Mine's newest recruits in August of 2021. Dominant, powerful and old-school in their approach, Creed Brothers are future standard bearers, or should I say diamonds, of tag team wrestling.
Hachiman : Diamond Mine's trainer, the former Hideki Suzuki is a prominent figure in puroresu. After working for Big Japan Pro Wrestling, Zero1, Wrestle-1 and even Bloodsport, Suzuki signed with WWE last year as a coach. Strict, commanding and stoic, Hachiman really does create and polish wrestling's diamonds.
Elektra Lopez : Legado's queen and newest member, Elektra SHOCKED THE WORLD by re-debuting during the group's feud with Hit Row, used to counteract B-Fab. As a daughter of WWF enhancement talent Steve King ( no he didn't write books ), Elektra has the business in her blood also. Fiery, dominant and talented, Elektra's run so far has certainly been electric.
Bron Breakker : touted as wrestling's next big thing, Bron's family just happen to be one of the greatest tag teams in the history of pro wrestling - his father Rick and uncle Scott, the Steiner Brothers ! A freak of an athlete, Breakker played in the NFL birefly before ultimately deciding to partake in the family job lol. Big, loud, charismatic and powerful, Rex Stein...I mean Bron Breakker is the epitome of an alpha male. He is scheduled to face Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Title at Halloween Havoc, and surprisingly, the young upstart's chances of winning are really good. 141 2/3 chance of winning that is..
Dante Chen : the young Dante has already made history in WWE, becoming the company's first ever Singapore-born wrestler. With a shiny outfit, a bright smile and fast offense, Chen is a happy-go lucky kid, but be careful, he can and will serve your head on a platter.
Joe Gacy : much like Ciampa, Gacy has been around, although his career path was much different. Most well-known for his work in CZW, a young Gacy was once a stablemate and tag partner of three men you might be familiar with - Sami Callihan, Eddie Kingston...and Jon Moxley ! Since then, Gacy improved by leaps and bounds, carrying CZW on his back as the top villain under his cult leader gimmick. In WWE, Gacy is nothing like he was in CZW, the greasy hair, the hardcore matches and the insane promos are all gone. Gacy's character is a well-dressed, polite, politically correct extremist, focused on making NXT inclusive and open for everyone. In essence, he is an evil version of Xyon Quinn lol
