it's actually illegal to return video games/dvds/cds after they are opened because you can make a copy of them and return it so once one of those are open you can only exchange it for the exact same copy and then they are supposed to open it before they give it to you(break the seal) so that way you can't return it later or at another location and get your money back

makes sense in the day. Tho that shit only works on DVD n cds now as ps etc is incrypted AFAIK

When I’ve worked returns at Target I usually go by the book. If I’m not sure what to do I call up a supervisor or I’ll call them up if the guest is getting upset

one of my last returns I remember being crazy before I quit was an old couple wanted to return a tv that had a crack in the screen and it was a year old

they said they had it in storage for the whole year and finally opened it and it was broken, i told them we can't return something after a full year no matter the reason, it's their responsibility to make sure it's working when you buy it.

they called corporate and bitched and corporate told us to go ahead and return it

We sell big fold out tables that people use for parties or whatever, and I’ve seen those returned and you can tell they just used it for a party and then returned it. We defect that out since it clearly shouldn’t be resold
