Sims 1, even with all of its expansions, is intentionally difficult to simulate real life and actual problems.

Sims 1 becomes much easier if you slightly mod the game so that relationships don't completely decay.

It's extremely hard to keep 12 friends when relationships decay several points per day.

Sims 2 is a little easier, but more expansive, and has a more open-world feel to it. With all its expansions, it's debatably the best game in the series.

Sims 3 tho is where EA went a little mad and just pumped out expansion after expansion after expansion, and the game became pretty much a wash after that.
