its basically just dumb unwritten rules that have come about over the last 50 years or so. Normally positive phrases have new negative connotations from people consistently using them sarcastically

mine we did Latin American Spanish and talked about differences but since we're in Texas they said it would be pointless to learn the Spain versions. It was still more proper tho

There was a whole verb conjugation we would skip bc it wasn't used in Latin American Spanish but it was in all our books and stuff
