Yeah, though I get the symbolic and a hint practical use of the Governor General as a role. Separation of a ceremonial position as the head of state and the PM as the head of government. Works as a rare check to each other. I also don't mind keeping a symbolic alliance with the UK, though it doesn't exactly "need" to be in the way it is.

Also with regards to the new king. Matt Smith portrays him in seasons 1 and 2 of The Crown in Netflix, so now it can be said that The Doctor is the King of England so that's good.
