CV and Survivor absolutely have lots of potential as exploratory into the lore of RE, so they aren't bad picks either, even if Survivor fucking sucks as a game.

Wesker absolutely works as a third party villain tbh, not the main villain of the series but the man pulling the strings.

2 is good because of what it expanded upon, but I still believe REMAKE is ultimately the best RE experience. It's also arguably the last Classical Survival Horror game.

Interestingly enough, the Classical Survivor Horror design lasted from 1992-2002. Alone in the Dark to REmake.
