I think 12 Angry Men is still so good today because it breaks all the principle rules of film.

Lee J Cobb played both Juror #3 and Detective Kinderman in 12 Angry Men and the Exorcist respectively... George C Scott replaces Cobb in the remake of 12 Angry Men and plays Kinderman in Exorcist III
