I'd like to spread my US reach of teams tbf, and my hockey team is in San Jose, and I've been really drawn to the Nets in the NBA (but haven't fully committed yet)

A really interesting team for hockey is Minnesota, they're generally pretty good, with periods of stagnation, but they're pretty much always playoff contenders, and they have a corps that's starting to become a bona fide deadly group.
