I went back and watched JBL's run and I think it was better than people gave it credit for at the time tbh. The SD roster at the time was ridiculously paper thin

I say all the time that JBL's main event run was amazing. One of my favorite periods as a fan was watching Smackdown with JBL as champ.

Some of it is just due to his reputation as a bully. Other was he went from a midcard guy to main event in the blink of an eye which was very weird back then

JBL was amazing at being a bully and stiffing people but also an excellent seller and his facials when he was in trouble really put his opponents over
