AJPW fell hard by the way-side in the 2000's after all their stars left for NOAH I think.

Japanese wrestling has a weird history, all the top stars in NJPW and AJPW left to start NOAH in the early 2000s and both AJPW and NJPW sucked ass for a few years but then NJPW had a rennaissance and is easily tops
