I think dogs recognize human names decently. Especially if it's like a kid bc the parent says stuff like "oh Blaine is almost home" (not using you as an example Blaine, this is what my mom says to our dog bc my brother's name is Blaine and he seems to respond)

I mean I can tell what my cat wants by how he meows a lot but they aren't the equivalent of "words" in any language
