Essentially a Rick Rubin backed and Jim Cornette booked AWA with little money and hinging on their old stars to push them through. With the influx of money, Greg Gagne hires some of the old gang, and Jim Cornette, now owning a stake in the company, also has hiring power, so he hires several guys he believes can help the company via PPA contracts. With only 300,000 in the bank, money is tight, and television and pay-per-view deals are tighter.
