Was playing Ck2 and never heard of the Aral Sea until now and now that I looked it up I'm pissed.

I've seen that main pic before and it's made me sad but I didn't know where that body of water was actually located or anything

So basically for millions of years, the Aral sea was kept level because rivers would lead to it and it would evaporate equally, and then in the 1960's the Soviet Union diverted several rivers for their failed agricultural projects and it's shrunk ever since.

Might legit be one of the worst environmental disasters I've ever seen.

It's worse than most bc it was DIRECTLY causes by humans where things caused by climate change I'd say are more indirect

Exactly. It's gotten better in recent years, but I don't think that sea is ever going to come back to what it once was.
