Why does someone feel like it's an insult to call someone a republican? I don't get how being called that or a democratic be considered an insult. If I sound stupid for asking a stupid question. Just ignore me. But I been curious for awhile now about that.

It's not. People just think calling someone liberal or conservative should be treated as an epithet instead of a political identity.
