With Goldberg I think Bischoff was forced to see his potential when the crowds wouldn't stop chanting his name.

But at the same time, it's also important for people who are wrestling in the midcard and tag teams to feel like they can aspire to bigger things. That you don't have to be a big name from another company, or just happen into a huge mega push your rookie year.

Or I guess that's subjective. Maybe in an ideal scenario you just have a bunch of people who know their role and will excel in it without asking for more.

Tbf to Bishcoff, I don't think Goldberg's push was planned like I was saying before. If Jericho for example had the entire crowd chanting Jericho in every arena for a year, they'd probably have put the strap on him too.

But then I suppose that's when you get complacency from the people at the top.

TBH I also think the WWE narrative plays fast and loose with this as well. Jericho and Eddie had massive pushes in WCW. The other WCW mids maybe not so much, but Jericho came into WWE with a promo against Rock and then a month later was doing what he was doing in WCW and didn't get put in the main until WCW was bought out and they literally used the fact he was in WCW to put in there and Eddie, not until 2004! Benoit as at least given the WCW Title in 2000 in WCW so who knows. I think a 2000 Jericho or Eddie run wasn't out of the realm of possibility if they were still there.

I think this important, but you can also do what you can to show you hunger for more.

I definitely think Guerrero and Jericho would have succeeded if they stuck around. They woulda been great assets for WCW in their dying days.

Eddie I think was close in 1999. WCW gave him Filthy Animals and I think Russo wanted to push him, but he found out fast Eddie wasn't re-signing.

Dean and Saturn had the Revolution angle going and Benoit split from them to get his push to the top. I think if Russo wasn't sent him in January, the Radicalz might have stayed.
