I'm not sure what the fuck they were thinking implementing some form of Point system instead of just rating it how you placed in recent races.

I haven't watched enough since to make a real assessment but I did think the stages concept they added a few years ago was cool and added something extra even if it seemed a little odd making a relatively simple sport more complicated
