Honestly, I think what started the problem was two things. First. The stip of never being able to challenge for the AEW title. Short term was fine, but once he did all he could with the TNT title, he quickly ran out of options. The second, just him being sealed off from stuff, especially... The Elite.

I think a lot of the problem with Cody in AEW too was at first we thought it was a bit that he was acting so over the top babyface to turn heel but really it was Cody being 100% serious when he said he wanted to be that babyface...we thought it was a work and everyone played along as well bc they thought they were supposed to boo lol

But once Cody left I def realized that he was gonna be that babyface no matter fucking what lol

this and the angles just also sucked so I think it's hard to say for sure it wouldn't have worked

Me playing fantasy booker. I would have first, had the stip be no AEW title matches for one calendar year. Second, I would have had Brodie Lee become the first TNT champion, beating Darby in the finals. Instead, Cody would be involved with the Elite's Stadium Stampede and still with The Elite until mid-summer.

yeah the angles were just bad and imo a lot of times, the wrong opponents
