Yeah my view is if you're censoring stuff, especially just short scenes of an episode, it's to make people think it never happened. Where if I'm watching old stuff I don't want to pretend like people didn't think bad things back then, it's a way to see how we've come

that is also my philosophy on the matter. I do not like pretending things were not done or said - that makes the conversation go away completely and we WANT to talk about these things and why it is bad now but was somewhat acceptable at the time - it's always an opportunity for education outside of a few things like you said
