I don't see Jericho as being the one who elevates or blocks anyone. It's more like it's (in most cases) just a thing of getting some dust from a still active legend sprinkled onto yourself.

I think it's just the fact that Jericho is divisive at this point, a lot of people don't enjoy him, right or wrong... so it's understandable that it annoys folks that he's suddenly feuding with whoever catches fire that month
