I think the issue with Davey Boy is there was never really a great time to do it. Hogan was on top when he first got big, then it was New Generation era with HBK and Bret and giving it to a roided up dude wasn't in the cards.

they couldn't fuck with Shawns championship reign like that. They needed to establish Shawn as a legit main event guy having him lose the Championship right away would have killed that.

Warrior in 1996 was a midcard guy. The WWE Champions at that time were HBK, Bret, Yoko, Bob Backlund, Sid, and DIesel.
