They.... literally still use Gamecube controllers to this day on the pro circuit (well, they did back when Smash had tournaments). Gamecube controller is literally one of the best controllers of all time.

I still think the controller sucks massive ass. the reason pros use it is because a lot of them are pros from the gc version AND because most other nintendo compatible controller are aboslute ass outside the pro, and the pro has latency issues being bluetooth vs plugged in

to be fair it's the only nintendo game that runs tournaments. It's also 4 consoles ago. Dual Shock 2 and whatever they called the 360 controller are not used today, unless the game is on that system.

Not fair at all. JoyCons are great but not for what you want for Smash. I have no issues with the Pro Controller either, it's good.

You can get used to anything if you use it enough and even call it great. Like the government fucking you up the ass constantly.
