It's just a very weirdly worded email. But yeah, current job doesn't end after the season is over (though if I were to be laid off...(also a lot of places hire videographers as contractors))

That's how my last job hired me but they were also desperate and shady lol what I thought was an interview, the dude starts talking how much I'm gonna be making instantly

I got the shadowing by randomly messaging the dude on LinkedIn asking where I apply because the positions aren't listed on the main site.
