I used to be like that went like 10 years without a sick day. Then I was like why nobody I ever worked for gave a shit. It didn't get me raises or promotions faster, people that called in sick weren't regarded differently.

I had a phone with a tiny bit of internet and I was actually front seat at a folk concert. The Cubs were in the playoffs and Mary Chapin Carpenter was onstage. She kept asking me for updates on the game because she was a Cubs fan. It was pretty cool

I had a great job in the very early 2000s.. but then I went utterly insane and was on disability for a while. But I self taught myself Japanese and paid for college as a translator. And after all that college now I just tell people cheesy scary stories
