It's why so many people in the South consider Sherman a war criminal, because he tore apart the South's entire industrial capacity in one fell swoop, while also allowing his men to burn down Atlanta.

Yeah, people actually kinda forget how little power the Japanese Emperor Showa had at that time (until the nukes went off, that was when he finally had the power to put an end to the military).
