Dino Crisis had a great start, but then fucking nosedived by mid game

Recently replayed Dino Crisis and I very much feel this. It's a good game but the beginning portions are the strongest part 100%. I struggled a bit.

A lot of people when I was looking it up were saying it does some things better and that it's worth playing.

It doesn't try and go for a horror atmosphere like DC1, instead opting to give you loads of guns and all the dinos to just slaughter.
