NHL I think also has a somewhat decent record with First Overall picks being at least respectable. There are some exceptions like Neil Yakupov, but even some who didn't end up being elite turn out to be decent players

Even Laffy, he has struggled a bit, but it is early enough where you can't call him a bust right away.
