"I cannot tell you how annoying it is to have several different items just to cure several different status effects in all kinds of Role-Playing Games. This isn’t just an issue strictly for early titles such as Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy; even games that have come out nearly 30 years after Sweet Home still suffer from this issue. It’s at this point just a common timesink for the genre. As inconvenient as it is, it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as one would think. Sure it’s annoying, but it’s no more tedious than grinding actions like mining or chopping wood in MMORPGs like Guild Wars 2. Akiko cuts down the tedium by her very nature by being a “one-stop-shop” for every character’s healing needs."

I will say I do think this is an issue that followed Resident Evil too.

The fact there are two different "poison" effects, one for Yawn and one for other enemies, is really just tedious and serves to make the game longer than it needs to be.

I'm pretty sure I never got poisoned by Yawn in my playthroughs, he's thankfully quite easy to beat. Always do panic making sure I got blue herbs though as the spiders used to get me a lot.

I think one thing I was never that huge on in Resident Evil was the backtracking a lot of the time, and inventory management. Took me a while to get used to it.

Backtracking I'm honestly fine with as long as it served a narrative or functional service.
