Because I have my opinion on Taro and it's pretty glowing.

Well technically all characters are useful in a game with limited characters and perma deaths

I imagine most people will see Taro's camera and how he's initially used and think he's not very good. Once they get into combat and late in the game it's really when you come to appreciate Taro's fucking stubbornness to refuse to die.

Like, early on I imagine everyone likes to use Kazuo in combat, but late game Taro is as good, if not better than Kazuo just based on defensive stats alone.

Taro is the tank while Kazuo is the cannon-for-an-arm.

Emi is also actually stupid good at combat too late-game.
