Well from what I glance at for the anime on my twitter, the series is still going on and in the main story, Ash is trying to now climb the rankings to the top trainer in the world while helping newer trainer Goh complete his dreams of catching every pokemon including Mew.

And there was a couple insane episodes like them meeting a shiny hunter, them meeting with Dawn and met alternate universe versions of themselves, and one where Pikachu felt neglected by Ash because Ash just hatched a baby pokemon who he sort of has a special connection with

But I basically started playing Pokemon Gen 3 with the first Kanto remakes and Ruby/Sapphire, fell out around Gen 5 mainly due to kids going "POKEMON IS FOR BABIES ANYONE PLAYING IT IS DUMB"

Then got back into it in Gen 6 with X/Y and the Gen 3 remakes

I watched the show as a kid, played blue, then pretty much haven't played any of the other games since lol

I did get an emulator of blue in high school and beat it tho just bc i never did as a kid lol

Always planned on getting a newer game at some point, I think I'd enjoy it still

I had a lot of cards as a kid too

A lot of the core of Pokemon has kept fairly the same. Catch pokemon of different types, train them, etc

Used to trade em on the bus
