It's 23 years since the Fingerpoke of Doom, the day WCW decided it wanted to die. The saddest thing for the industry is that there is no way such a thing will happen in WWE
It was a stupid move with a packed Georgia Dome, but it didn’t “kill” WCW. They did 300K buys for Souled Out, 450K for SuperBrawl and like 275 for Uncensored.
And on top of that, that did two 5.0 Nitros after as well.
The problem is they didn’t follow through on the idea of Goldberg destroying the nWo and instead it fizzled out.
And then Hogan got hurt, Luger got hurt, DDP turned heel, Nash turned heel and then face again, Bret Hart got hurt and the last nail Goldberg got hurt.
All in a span of two months in the Spring not January.
And WCW was still fixable, but the summer and fall booking was absolutely atrocious and killed it further.
