And look, even though neo-pronouns confuse me, I'm pretty considerate. Also they/them are actually legitimate pronouns for people. Think of it like this, if you don't know who someone is, you naturally use they/them, it is proper grammar. Therefore someone without a strong association with being male or female preferring they/them is fine. I have multiple people I have met online and in person who prefer they/them pronouns and I don't cause any fuss over it. I use their preferred pronouns, if I fuck up, it is by accident and usually it isn't a big deal and I quickly correct myself.

yeah i usually just use they unless im 100% sure and it avoids any and all issues. and then on a personal level ill just ask what they prefer if they dont outyright tell me first

It’s why I use they a lot of the time here If I don’t know I’m not going to assume one way or the other

Yep, and I only have issue when someone is told "Hey, this person prefers these pronouns" and someone refuses to use them out of spite. Granted if someone makes a genuine mistake with ill intent, just lashing out in anger is wrong, but that isn't something which happens all the time.
