I'm looking forward to going in blind for the most part. I literally can barely remember anything. Getting lost in Dark Souls is something I've been enjoying lately. So many bosses I just randomly stumble in to.
Alucard's biggest thing in 3 is being able to turn into a bat for minimal heart usage, but the English version makes him spend it exponentially faster, so instead of an optimal strategy, it becomes a last-ditch effort.
Grant's ability to climb walls and platforms, while still the same, is hindered completely by his inability to throw knives as a regular attack. He's no longer a jack of all trades swiss army knife, but instead a niche and formidable trekker who can't attack for shit. Sypha surprisingly is also extremely strong in the Japanese version against Dracula.
Not to mention that enemies in Akumajou Densetsu deal damage based on enemy type, not what level it is, like in 3. Bats for example will deal minimal damage, but in like the last level in 3, will bring the player's health down by a 4th.
Akumajou Densetsu as a game holds a very close personal place in my heart because it is the game I spent the most time playing *in* High School, like during classes
