His story is fucking hilarious tbh. Walks into a shootout with like 10 people, 9 people are injured or dead, and Wyatt Earp just walks back out.

Wyatt Earp was the referee during the Bob Fitzsimmons vs. Tom Sharkey championship match, in which he declared Sharkey the victor by DQ after Sharkey claimed Fitzsimmons hit him below the belt... Earp was also packing heat during the match and that got him in big trouble.

I think when folks think of the stereotypical "gunslinger" stereotype like Clint Eastwood or any Spaghetti Western guy, Wyatt Earp is sort of the baseline for it.
