Didn't the Confederacy attacked a US outpost known as Fort Sumter first? And don't tell me that it was Confederate property. Virginia sold the estate to the US Federal Army long before the Civil War, it was Federal property, the facts are there.

It was part of the land below the Mason Dixon. They gave them plenty of warning to leave. The attack only happened after the Secretary of War sent several warships to the Fort and the South thought they were being invaded.
