The Jason Voorhees / Michael Myers slashers owe everything to it.
There's a very interesting intersection and diversion between Sci-Fi and Horror. Frankenstein influenced both separately, and the first Horror stories are Gothic Horror, which slowly diverts into Modern Horror (Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc), Neo-Gothic Horror (Poltergeist, Evil Dead, etc.), and Science Fiction Horror (The Blob, Them, The Thing). Science Fiction intersects interestingly with Horror in that aspect even though Science Fiction diverts itself into traditional Sci-Fi (Star Trek, Doctor Who, etc.) modern Sci-Fi (Superheroes, etc.), and Steampunk Sci-Fi (Dune, Atlantis, etc.)
