Thing is I think 2 and 3 had the tightest stories in the series because they were something Kojima actually *wanted* to make.

To *get* the storyline of Metal Gear Solid, all you really need is MGS 3, Peace Walker, 5, MG, MG2, MGS, and MGS 2.
